"Rico's 2-cent's worth"
Whether you are building your first truck or your 15th, you will appreciate the quality and fit of the replacement or repair panels we sell. Many of the parts have received the GM Restoration Parts label already, and many other parts are in the final stages of approval. There are more replacement parts available today for our classic trucks than there were when the trucks were made!
A little technical help.... Most all of the panels we sell are now coming completely primered with Black EDP (Electro Disposition Primer). There is no need to remove this coating on full panels like doors or fenders. However, on all patch panels and where you need to weld, the EDP should be ground off at least double the width of the weld area.
While a surface "scuffing", using a fine sandpaper or a fine grit "scuff pad", is all the "prep" that is required on the EDP to coat over full panels, "it plays havoc" with a MIG or TIG welder.
Just remember your "Welding 101" and clean the weld materials to bare metal first. And always use short spaced out weld beads to keep the metal cool and help avoid distortion.
